John - Lol! How could we forget?? :-)
I know what you mean re the grocery store tomatoes, or water bombs as they call them in Holland. When I can't get the good ones I stick to good tinned but you just can't beat those sun ripened gorgeous fresh ones. The ones you describe sound delicious.

Ginger - I can understand that as, really, unless they're these tomatoes or similar, I can't eat them raw. They get an awful flavour once they're chopped. That's so lovely about the pizza sauce, thanks for letting me know! I am thrilled.

Planethalder - thanks! I did, I take all the photos for this site.

I've been trying for so long to enjoy raw tomatoes but I find it a real struggle, cooked tomatoes are another matter though and we also use them a lot. Your pizza sauce is a regular in our house now :)

gorgeous tomatoes. but...national tomato week, in may??!! here in the northeast US (and the world revolves around us, did you forget?) they are incredible, esp. from the backyard, still warm from the sun, in mid-august. We have them now at the farmer's market here in northern virginia, but... very grocery store-ish.

Thanks Jules! The tomatoes did all the work in this particular one. No styling required :-)

Sylvie, thanks! It's actually a photo from a market in Paris that I visited last year. It's my favourite tomato photo that I have. The Isle of Wight tomato stall is equally wonderful if less haphazard. They're well represented in the London Markets and I am a frequent visitor.

Trig, thanks! They're fab aren't they (IoW)? I love Broadway Market too, particularly for the Gujarati food stall there.

Thanks, George! Wonderfully versatile. A quick search for tomato on my blog yesterday proved to me just how much I use them in my cooking!

The IoW supplier is excellent. They also run a stall in Broadway Market in Hackney every Saturday, just round the corner from my parents. Absolutely fantastic photo. It's made me hungry!
