I know what you mean re the grocery store tomatoes, or water bombs as they call them in Holland. When I can’t get the good ones I stick to good tinned but you just can’t beat those sun ripened gorgeous fresh ones. The ones you describe sound delicious.

Ginger – I can understand that as, really, unless they’re these tomatoes or similar, I can’t eat them raw. They get an awful flavour once they’re chopped. That’s so lovely about the pizza sauce, thanks for letting me know! I am thrilled.

We have them now at the farmer’s market here in northern virginia, but… very grocery store-ish.

Sylvie, thanks! It’s actually a photo from a market in Paris that I visited last year. It’s my favourite tomato photo that I have. The Isle of Wight tomato stall is equally wonderful if less haphazard. They’re well represented in the London Markets and I am a frequent visitor.

Trig, thanks! They’re fab aren’t they (IoW)? I love Broadway Market too, particularly for the Gujarati food stall there.
