I really fancy some lighter, fresher Italian alternatives to all the slightly grim Christmas ‘party nibble’ foods that are in the shops. Salami and olives says ‘party’ much more loudly to me than ‘cut down version of stodgy stuff I don’t like anyway’!

WOW is this a coincidence? Eight family & friends to our place for Christmas dinner, amongst that crew are vegetarians, pescatarians and carnivores! A tough foodie crowd too. We decided on an antipasto plank(s) with cheeses, olives, languistines, meats and bruschetta. Two weeks to go, nothing done only pinning things I’d like to see on the table that day on Pinterest!!!! it’s now becoming the Italian challengissimo! Beautiful tableware – mmmmmm! We definitely need some of that, at the moment we don’t even have enough dinner plates for 6, so guests (or more likely me!) have to use a side plate, then wash up quickly ready for dessert. Yes please! After years in flats with no room for a table and chairs, I finally have the space to entertain and I’d like to do it in style.
I moved into a new flat recently and after leaving a flatshare where all the crockery/cutlery etc was provided for me, I find myself depressingly short on anything that would make a decently decorated table… Having said that, an Ikea tea light (without a holder) makes a fantastic centre piece, don’t you think?
