Market Stall

For 5 months in in 2009, I had a stall at Covent Garden Real Food Market, serving up food that I have featured on this blog.

The regular favourite and signature dish for 2009 was an 8 hour Slow Roast Pork Shoulder with Spiced Apple in a Homemade Blaa (fluffy Irish bread roll).

Several items were sold every week with at least one new item each week, including:

Slow Roast Lamb Shoulder with Smoky Aubergine & Tomato Relish; Chorizo & Pork Rolls; Caramelised Red Onion & Goat’s Cheese Tart; Spiced Pumpkin Soup; Black Bean Chilli with Chocolate; Pumpkin, Spinach, Goat’s Cheese & Chilli Rolls; Courgette, Tomato  & Parmesan Tart; Frank Hederman’s Organic Irish Smoked Salmon, with homemade Irish Brown Soda Bread and Irish Cucumber Pickle. All served with gorgeous glasses of Bisol Jeio Prosecco.

I will be back in the future, although I am taking a little break for now, to focus on some travelling and recipe development. I do look forward to meeting more readers then. It was a real pleasure to meet so many last year.

Recently discovered your blog, and have just caught up on your market stall adventtures. Really enjoying the writing and the photos, and most of all your passion and spirit for this!

I used to work right by Covent Garden (until May), bummed that we didn’t get to cross paths then. As soon as I’m back in London, I’d love to come by some Thursday and scarf some of your great looking wares!

Hi Niamh, I first discovered your blog about 2 years ago and I really love it! The writing and photos are always amazing and if I am ever going to London I look up your blog to search for restaurants. I recently discovered your from the same town as me in Ireland – I couldn’t believe I was reading this for so long and never knew! Freaky!

  4. Love your blog, stumbled upon it whilst searching for a recipe for butternut squash and Chickpeas, I’m going to merge 2 recipes. Cheers, good luck for the future.
